Multicultural Musical Instruments

Want to teach the kids about diversity? Why not to start with music?

Kidslikeme website provide multicultural educational resources to schools, parents among others. And music wise they have a fantastic selection of instruments from around the world. I liked the Multicultural Instrument Set. There are 8 of the most popular instruments from South America, South East Asia and Africa.

A really nice idea to teach the kids different rhythms and also provide them with hours of fun. Best even when the whole family get together and make some happy music. Fantastic for exploring sounds!

Top marks for being fair trade as well!

My son is a very musical kind of kid and already plays the drums, he loves making different sounds, so a kit like that would be heaven for him!

How do you introduce music to your children?

Baby crying analyser

by Ann on June 15, 2009

whycry

If you are like all of us, mums, who would give a whole world to find out why the baby is crying so much, you will be happy to know that in fact, nowadays it is possible.

WhyCry Baby is a monitor that is able to identify the reason why your baby is crying. Is it hunger, fear, stress, boredom? Whatever the reason, you will know it. It is very accurate (98%),  according to hospitals research.

WhyCry baby comes with a checklist with baby’s body language and it also measures the temperature and humidity in the room.

It seems like heaven to me, I just wish I could have had one like those 8 years ago, when my son, a baby in that time used to cry for no apparent reason, at least for me and my knackered husband, at 3am. It seems very reassuring for a first time or hearing impaired parent.

It is very popular worldwide, being used over 22 different countries and hugely popular in America and Asia.

Parents have to be aware that WhyCry Baby is a complimentary device and they should always follow their instinct and ability to understand their child’s need.  Always contact a doctor in case of any  doubt about the baby’s health.

I love the idea and you?

Would you feel more confident as a first time parent owning one?

by AnnMay 14, 2009 Boys

Thought only the known artists could have an art folder where to keep their secrets? Wrong! Our little ones can have just the same to keep their artworks and  school projects stored and protected.
Nice idea, have to say, as I am always in the lookout for a safe place at home where I can leave [...]

TummyTub

by AnnMay 13, 2009 Babies

The other day, looking for baby baths,  I came across  the TummyTub. It looks as if it is really nice and comfy for the babies.
After watching some videos, I could understand why it makes them relaxed while being bathed. The position they adopt is the same one as they would still being in the uterus [...]

Street Gliders

by AnnMay 13, 2009 Boys

Gone is the time when we used to skate on an ordinary pair of old 4 wheels roller skates and be happy.  Nowadays the kids do not even need 4 wheels as 2 will almost do the same job.
The new Street Gliders allow the kids to skate and glide attaching 2 wheels on the back [...]
